Don’t get me wrong I’m all for finding the right person but at the same time I don’t think the right person has to be introduced right in the middle of the proposed courageous and independent female leads growth and story. The romance/sexual properties of this book felt often times quite forced regarding Eliana’s story. Claire Legrand didn’t do this instead she gave information as was necessary to understand and visualize the events that were occurring. I have found that a lot of authors in this genre tend to do info dumps within the first couple chapters but, if I’m being honest that makes the most books so suffocating and is a big turn off for me personally. The writing was duly executed, leaving little room for confusion, and how all the world building was done on a necessary basis was freeing. I greatly enjoyed reading about these two strong leading ladies but I cannot say I didn’t totally call their relation to one another prior to the 30-chapter-long reveal.
